Courtney’s December Updates
Snaps for Me!
This month, I was able to pull off my first event without Emilie. I still had a lot of help, but I was nervous about doing it without her! Thankfully, it turned out to be a hit!
This year was Maverick’s first Christmas, and I was able to start the family Christmas traditions that I’ve been so excited to share with my kiddos!
December was a busy month, as I’m sure it is for most everyone! With wedding season dying down until the spring, we had other events to to take up our time. The very first weekend of December held two big events - Denise’s 50th Birthday and Leah’s 1st Birthday! That meant the start of December was going to be extremely busy for us, and it also meant that Emilie would not be there on the day of Denise’s party because she’d be busy preparing for Leah’s party the next day! Thankfully, Christian was able to pitch in, my father-in-law was able to run some errands for me, Kristen and Liam came out, and my mom and our friend, Haley, were able to work. It was a family affair, but it all came together!
Getting ready for Christmas was a real challenge this year. You never realize how much harder things can be once you have a baby until you’re living it! Maverick has become such a pleasant little one, but he’s extremely needy at this stage. He can’t entertain himself for very long, so he needs lots of attention. Combine that with the fact that he’s not the best sleeper AND he hit his four month sleep regression, and it leaves very little time for other things! Despite that, we finally found some tome to get our tree up in the middle of December. We got it upstairs and out of the box, put it together, plugged it in, and only half of it lit up! We discovered a broken cord, so fearing a fire hazard, we decided to toss it and get a whole new tree. We finally got our new little tree up on December 23rd, and it’s perfect. It seems like to hit a lot of bumps in the road like that as we prepared for Christmas, but it turned out to be so incredible.
Heading into the new year, I’m excited to be turning 25 (that sounds so old!), to watch my little man continue to grow, to play a small part in some big days through Plan + Simple, and to spend lots of time with my family and dear friends. Here’s to a fantastic 2020!
Christian and I enjoyed a date night and went out to eat and saw Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. We had such a nice time, and tried not to spend every minute talking about Maverick!
Seeing my sweet niece, Leah, turn one year old is crazy! It feels like just yesterday when we were [not so] patiently waiting in the hospital to meet her. Being her aunt is one of my greatest blessings in life!
Christian and I went with his mom, Diane, to see Preacher Lawson at Improv and it was so fun! We love Preacher from America’s Got Talent, so it was great to see him perform in person and to meet him!
Spending our first Christmas as a family of three was such a joy. We did some visiting, but we spent Christmas morning together taking it easy and enjoying each other.
